CONFERENCE ON THE COUCH
OUTsider is not just a transmedia arts fest, it’s also a conference! We’re continuing to break the conference mold with smart & sexy salon-style panels at the home, and on the couch of some of our very own organization founders <3
Join us for conversation & queer intimacies with the artists and academics of OUTsider.
You must have a festival badge to attend this kiki!

Shapeshifting Artists
presented by Laura Gutiérrez and siri gurudev
It seems that to be a queer artist means to be a constant shapeshifter, always considering different art forms, spaces, social and cultural contexts. Shapeshifting can be exhilarating and important for queer aesthetics, survival and joy. Let’s gather and talk about our interdisciplinarity, intersectionality, and other interstitial maneuvers and manifestations, including how tiring this constant shifting may be “in this economy.”

Archival Underbellies
presented by Laura Gutiérrez and siri gurudev
This is a provocation: Queers are the optimal archivers and/or are deft at accessing archives, particularly those residing in the cultural and social underbellies. The discussion will revolve around the artist’s and/or scholar’s use of the archive. Is documenting what happens on the margins, in the underground, in the dungeons, in the dark important in your work as a writer/thinker/maker?
